South Dakota requires any person who has been convicted of a sex crime or has received a suspended imposition of a sentence for a sex crime to register with the state registry. A juvenile that is 15 or older and is adjudicated of rape, promotion of minor prostitution or a felony sexual contact is required to register.

A sex offense or sex crime in the state of South Dakota is defined as any of the following:

Rape
Sexual contact with a minor under 16, if committed by an adult and the adult is charged with a felony.
Sexual contact with a person incapable of consenting, if committed by an adult
Adult committing incest
Possessing, manufacturing and distributing child pornography
Sexual exploitation of a minor
Kidnapping if the victim is a minor
Promotion of prostitution of a minor
Criminal pedophilia
Indecent exposure
Solicitation of a minor
Attempt to commit an offense listed above

Registrants are required to provide the following information:

Name and aliases
Address
Type of sex crime
Date of commission and conviction for any sex crime committed
