Pedophiles Released in California

An analysis of a California sex offenders database shows thousands of child molesters are being let out of prison after just a few months.
Sex offenders receive less than a year in prison for many heinous crimes, including sexting children under 14.

Thousands of child abuse were released within months, despite judicial advice. More than 7,000 criminals were convicted of “indecent or indecent behavior with a child under the age of 14”, but were released from prison the same year they were imprisoned.

Others who committed some of the worst child sex crimes on the books served short sentences, including 365 child sex offenders convicted of continuing child abuse who spent less than 12 months at home imprisonment, 39 cases of men and women and children under 16 and three cases of abduction of a child under 14 years of age with the intention of committing immoral or indecent acts, according to the data.

A last minute gut-and-amend bill in 2020 by Assemblyman Phil Ting, Assembly Bill 3234, lowered the age threshold for “elderly parole” from 60 to 50, creating a loophole that allows violent sex offenders to be eligible for “elderly parole” after serving only 20 years. Despite the significant societal and fiscal impacts of the bill, AB 3234 was was passed entirely on party lines without a hearing or notice to the public.
